The Last Thylacine

If we’re going to be honest, this post should really be titled with a statement about how I’m a big softy. More than anything, it just saddens me to hear/see more evidence of our own ignorance and how it’s played out to the misfortune of yet another species- a truly beautiful and mysterious one, at that.

The thylacine is a now extinct carnivorous marsupiul, the last of which spents its final days pacing about a cage and finally died from exposure and neglect. The video is the last known motion picture of a living thylacine; just a few seconds of black and white footage as the animal paces back and forth in its cage, taken in 1933 (three years prior to its death). It always saddens me to imagine cruelty of this nature.
